The Harbour of Tignale is also known by the name of “Pra dela Fam” in the local dialect. The villages in the hills above were linked to the area by the lake and thus, by boat, with the lake’s major centres; the name “Prato della Fame” (meadow of hunger) comes from the fact that this part of the coast served as a shelter during violent storms on the lake and sailors could be stranded here for days with nothing to eat. There was a hermitage carved in the rock here from the Middle Ages until the nineteenth century.
The most important structure here is the “Limonaia del Pra dela Fam”, a greenhouse for lemons that characterizes, and is unique to, the landscape of Lake Garda.
There is an attractive, fully equipped beach with a snack bar, the perfect place to relax. You can go wind-surfing, sailing, take kite-surfing lessons, go canyoning and scuba diving.
There is a bus service daily (return tickets € 4,00; free for Tignale Card holders and residents) from Tignale to the beach and back, four times a day from the 22nd april to 17th September.
